Farmers Market Booth Manager

Montclair Market Manager - Your Role:

• Run the farmers market booth on your own from beginning to end one or two Saturdays per month
• Represent Adventure Kitchen at the market each time you work
• Make decisions and judgment calls in alignment with business values and priorities
• Set things up, break down, and serve customers throughout the day
• Share recipes/resources and help customers sign up for weekly recipe emails
• Stay plugged into new products and food content
• Connect with customers all day, welcome them, offer samples, answer questions, and help them find the right spices and recipes
• Collaborate with Spice Pop sales team during the warm season to support customers across product lines
• Represent Adventure Kitchen's values while making on-the-spot decisions
• Work independently 1-2 Saturdays per month from start to finish: load in, set up, sell, and break down

Qualifications:

• Own car to transport everything to and from the market
• Midsize car or minivan with seats that fold down to accommodate folding tables, tent, crates of spices, etc.
• Over 18 with a valid driver's license
• Pass a background check
• Phone with hotspot capability to connect our devices at the market each day
• Comfortable initiating conversations with strangers and chatting about food and cooking

Compensation:

• $250 per market day, plus bonuses when you reach sales and email targets
• Additional training time at $25/hour

Hours:

• May-November: 1-2 Saturdays/month (rain or shine)
• Exact work hours depend on setup and breakdown times, but plan on working approximately 6:30am-3:30pm each time you work
• In case of extreme weather, you would not be paid if we cancel the market in advance for any reason, but you would be paid for the full day if we ask you to break down early for any reason

Training Plans:

• Combination of sessions at Montclair HQ kitchen and hands-on training at Montclair Farmers Market booth
• Training covers setup and breakdown logistics, sales, cooking with spices, customer interactions, and potentially equity/inclusion training and/or leadership training
• You’ll start with partial shifts at the farmers market until you’re ready to run the show fully on your own
