About the role

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking employees for hundreds of temporary positions for the 13-Day New York State Fair. The Fair, held from August 26, 2026, to September 7, 2026, preserves and enhances the agricultural legacy of the State of New York and promotes current and future agricultural awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Agriculture: Cleaning barns, tending to animals, and assisting in various agricultural departments.
  • Guest Relations/Ticket Takers: Welcoming guests, providing information, and scanning tickets.
  • Safety: Helping guests while following safety protocols.
  • Bag Check- 8-Hour Security Course: Guarding entry points, verifying credentials, and checking bags.
  • Chevy Security- Licensed Security Guard: Performing security services at Chevy Court and Suburban Park concert locations.
  • Tram Conductor: Helping passengers on and off trams and ensuring they follow the route.
  • Tram Driver: Safely transporting passengers on a truck-pulled wagon.
  • Sensory Room: Monitoring and assisting guests in sensory programming areas.
  • State Fair Merchandise Truck: Operating POS system, maintaining merchandise inventory, and handling cash transactions.
  • Camping: Assisting with campground operations and ensuring guests have proper credentials.
  • Potato Booth: Baking potatoes, preparing toppings, and handling cash transactions.
  • Events: Managing logistics of special events and interacting with large groups of fairgoers.

Requirements

  • One of the following: 8-hour security course completion certificate, unexpired security guard license, active military member status, or active or retired police officer status.
  • CDL Class B License with a "P" Endorsement for Tram Driver position.
