About the role

This executive leadership role guides the Directors and management, focusing on the continued development and expansion of services. The State Director is responsible for overall operations, including executive leadership, program development, fiscal oversight, quality assurance, contract compliance, and accreditation matters. This person ensures corporate goals are met and maintains person-centered, inclusive programs aligned with the philosophy and mission of Community Options.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily operations and compliance with state licensing and reporting standards
  • Strive to meet corporate goals pertaining to growth, licensure, financial oversight, and capacity
  • Oversee the formulation of local advisory boards to assist in developing and expanding resources, improving service delivery
  • Provide fiscal oversight for assigned territory, develop and manage the budget, and make sound financial decisions in accordance with company policies
  • Develop long and short-term goals for the region and work with managers to achieve them
  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide support to Executive Directors and supporting managers
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to promote continuous improvement
  • Recommend sound personnel practices in employee recruitment, compensation, and performance management, and advise management staff on the same
  • Present a clear picture of regional operations issues to their manager, outlining possible solutions and challenges
  • Identify and recommend appropriate grant and funding opportunities
  • Promote fundraising activities to increase the organization’s funding base
  • Promote and maintain a positive public image of Community Options
  • Interface with local, state, and governmental agencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in a related field preferred
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in administrative and supervisory roles
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with disabilities
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics
  • Ability to establish comfortable and supportive relationships with individuals receiving services
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing checks
