Starter Ranger-No 9-Part Time

About the role

A Starter/Ranger at Pinehurst is responsible for managing orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses. This role requires knowledge of golf rules, physical stamina, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Be knowledgeable regarding the general rules of the play of golf
• Stand for several hours consecutively
• Operate a golf cart, getting in and out periodically for several hours a day
• Tolerate adverse weather conditions
• Check tee sheets and direct players to the starting tee in a timely manner
• Inform players about daily course conditions, special playing conditions, and general guidelines regarding play at Pinehurst each day
• Total familiarity with the courses of responsibility, monitoring specific conditions and tracking play
• Accessibility to players for service or assistance at all times
• Awareness of surroundings, understanding of a golf environment, and ability to see and react to the surroundings including errant golf balls
• Understanding and following proper golf etiquette while completing tasks
• Checking for payment vouchers of players
• Checking for proper functioning of certain equipment in and around the golf course
• Reporting faulty golf course conditions
• Keeping accurate records and performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum three months related experience
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
