Starter / Ranger

Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough, NJ is seeking a driven seasonal Part-Time Starter / Ranger to contribute to a fast-paced, hospitality-focused property as part of Troon, a global leader in golf and community management.

About the role

Starts players on the golf course, explains the rules of play for the day, and tours the course to encourage a reasonable pace of play.

Responsibilities

• Starts players on the first tee, explaining the rules of play for the day.
• Maintains an accurate starting sheet to track player whereabouts.
• Cues groups to move to the first tee, ensuring only one group is on the tee at a time.
• Tours the golf course to assist players and maintain the posted pace of play.
• Checks restrooms and water stations on a regular schedule.
• Maintains proper spacing on the golf course to avoid delays.
• Completes the golfer tracking report daily.
• Reminds players of cart rules for the day.
• Repairs ball marks and collects trash on the course.
• Replaces hazard stakes or directional signage as needed.
• Communicates regularly with the Golf Shop and Starter.
• Monitors the course to ensure customer satisfaction and assists golfers when needed.
• Reports problem situations to the Head Professional in a timely manner.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to read and speak English to communicate with customers and co-workers.

Physical Demands

• Frequently stands, walks, and reaches with hands and arms.
• Regularly sits, uses hands, talks, or hears.
• Occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

• Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
• Moderate noise level.

Pay

$15.92 per hour.
