Standard Chartered appoints new Global Head of Trade

Standard Chartered has appointed Deutsche Bank veteran Michael Spiegel as its Singapore-based Global Head of Trade. Spiegel brings over three decades of experience across Europe, the US, and Asia, most recently shaping Deutsche Bank’s global trade finance and cash management offerings as Global Head for Trade Finance and Corporate Cash Management. He has also held senior client coverage and regional management roles at the Executive Management Committee level.

Spiegel replaces Farooq Siddiqi, who moved to Falcon Group as CEO of Southeast Asia in November last year. Based in Singapore, Spiegel will report to Lisa Robins, Global Head of Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered and a former Deutsche Bank colleague.

About the Role

As Global Head of Trade, Spiegel will lead Standard Chartered’s trade finance business, leveraging the bank’s network across nearly 150 markets to support clients’ cross-border commercial needs.
