Staging Pen Wash (Second Shift)

About the role

The Staging/Pen Wash employee is responsible for cleaning livestock areas as well as unloading livestock trucks, counting, segregating, and penning hogs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to sit
• May be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Exposed to extreme cold (cut floor consistently exposed to temperatures of 41 degrees Fahrenheit) and extreme heat
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
