About the role
The Stage Operations Assistant works closely with the Technical Director of Stage Operations to support the hang and focus of theatrical lighting for Theatre, Dance, and Music Department productions at the Eisner Center. As Head Production Electrician, they lead student crews to safely and accurately install theatrical lighting in multiple performance venues. The team also handles load-in of seating risers, audio equipment, and soft goods.
The schedule is flexible and on an as-needed basis between August and May, not to exceed 100 hours each semester.
Responsibilities
- Interpret theatrical lighting plots and lead the hang and focus of theatrical lighting fixtures
- Collaborate with the Technical Director of Stage Operations on other technical elements of stage setups, including pits, seating, projections, and more
- Supervise and guide student staff members, ensuring tasks are completed safely and satisfactorily
- Program and patch lighting consoles (ETC IonXE) for performances
Requirements
- At least one year of documented experience in theatrical lighting
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and install theatrical lighting
- Experience with ETC Ion or ETC IonXE lighting control consoles
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience related to theatrical lighting installation and leading a crew
- Experience with digital audio consoles
- Experience with ETCNet digital lighting systems
- Facility working with undergraduate students
Pay
$18–21/hour
