About the role
This expert-level position drives critical manufacturing engineering projects supporting equipment installations, capacity additions, and process improvements at our Newton, NC facility. You will ensure mechanical readiness, troubleshooting, and technical support for complex, multi-line manufacturing equipment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to directly impact production efficiency, safety, and project success.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and promote safe work practices, reporting hazards and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Lead installation and debugging of manufacturing equipment to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Design and implement mechanical solutions and process changes to improve equipment capability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair advanced mechanical systems (pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics).
- Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems post-installation.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and repair.
- Identify and implement reliability, efficiency, and safety improvements for equipment.
- Manage spare parts identification and storeroom entries as recommended by suppliers or engineers.
- Develop, update, and maintain engineering and operations documentation.
- Support training for operations teams on equipment and process changes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and protect project scope and timeline.
- Provide project leadership and resource allocation as needed to achieve aggressive milestones.
Requirements
- Advanced mechanical engineering skills
- Mechanical troubleshooting expertise
- Experience with equipment installation
- Proficiency in hydraulics and pneumatics
- Technical documentation abilities
- Process improvement experience
- Safety compliance knowledge
- Preferred: Project leadership, CAD experience, or vendor management
- Preferred: OSHA/safety certifications and experience with CMMS or Microsoft Office Suite
