Staff Writer
About the role
Questex is seeking to add two Staff Writers, one for Fierce Pharma Marketing and one for Fierce Biotech. These roles aim to deliver daily news and a steady flow of features that put the news in context for our readers.
Responsibilities
Writing daily news stories and longer-form features for Fierce Pharma Marketing or Fierce Biotech.
Developing a beat and building a strong network of sources.
Mining public records, court documents, regulatory filings, clinical trial data and company disclosures for original stories.
Brainstorming and delivering features that help Fierce engage and grow its audience.
Collaborating with editors and reporters across the newsroom on major stories and special projects.
Creating or contributing to audio and video content, including podcasts and short-form.
Actively engaging on social media to promote stories, connect with sources and grow Fierce’s audience and voice.
Traveling occasionally to cover major industry conferences.
Requirements
Minimum one year of newsroom experience required, with a preference for candidates who have covered pharma, healthcare, business or another complex, regulated field.
Degree in journalism or a related, writing-intensive field.
Strong writing and reporting skills, with knowledge of AP.
Demonstrated ability to report quickly, accurately and with integrity.
Experience with multimedia storytelling, including podcasting, video or on-camera.
Comfort speaking publicly, including moderating panels or participating in live or recorded discussions.
An understanding of how to use social media as a reporting and audience growth tool.
A collaborative mindset, strong news judgment and enthusiasm for building expertise over time.
Qualifications

Pay
The expected base salary for these positions ranges from $60K to $70K. Salary offers are based on a broad scope of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market, geographic and organizational factors are also considered.

As a Staff Writer, you’ll support Questex’s success by traveling occasionally to cover major industry conferences.
