Responsibilities
- Examining and treating a variety of illnesses and injuries
- Performing spay/neuter surgeries (HQHVSN experience a plus)
- Diagnostic testing
- Communicating medical plans and ensuring follow up care for shelter animals
- Adhering to contagious disease protocols
- Performing occasional euthanasia
- Keeping thorough medical records
- Providing input on and updating medical protocols
- Managing a staff of four (including one part-time veterinarian) and staying within budgetary guidelines by using effective and efficient medical judgement
Requirements
- DVM degree and be licensed (or have the ability to obtain a license) to practice in the State of Wisconsin
- DEA licensure for controlled substances
- Be a team player with extraordinary communication and problem-solving skills
- Have a passion for both animals and people
- Previous shelter medicine and HQHVSN surgery experience preferred
