About the Role
Our client in the California Region is looking for a Staff Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support their growing Transmission & Distribution Practice. This role involves performing, leading, and overseeing all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design.
Responsibilities
- Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering tasks related to overhead transmission line design, including:
- PLS-CADD modeling
- Line routing
- Structure analysis and loading trees
- Developing design criteria
- Sag-tension calculations
- Wire blowout and swing angle analysis
- Damper recommendations
- Structure spotting
- Clearance reports
- Wire selection
- Prepare specifications for construction, hardware, and materials for high-voltage overhead transmission lines (HV OH T-Line), including structure design and development, hardware design and selection, and field installation supervision.
- Prepare construction drawings and cost estimates for high-voltage overhead transmission lines.
- Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members.
- Potential to grow into a leadership role, leading teams of engineers and serving as the primary interface between client engineers and clients.
- Experience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program (required).
- Professional certification, EIT, and/or a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (strongly desired).
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience with routing and design of high-voltage overhead transmission line facilities (completion of a master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience).
- Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design.
- Working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system-based programs (e.g., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.) (preferred).
