About the role

Under general direction, participates in the planning, development, and implementation of orientation and clinical training programs for assigned units and programs, focused on the physical and mental health needs of our patients (excluding RN-specific training). Delivers training to new staff and ongoing in-service education for both clinical and non-clinical patient-facing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers engaging, hands-on training through classroom instruction, live demonstrations, simulation and mock scenarios, small-group activities, and individualized mentoring as needed
  • Teaches, models, and demonstrates skills in CPR, patient/resident de-escalation, aggression management techniques, precepting new staff, and managing an acute milieu, while providing opportunities for learners to practice and apply skills in realistic situations
  • Assesses trainee competency and performance through observation, demonstration, and practical application exercises, providing constructive feedback to employees and supervisors/managers
  • Completes and maintains training documentation in the electronic learning management system and employee educational records to ensure continued readiness for accreditation
  • Maintains, evaluates, and updates training materials and educational resources to support effective, competency-based learning

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of related clinical experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings, with demonstrated knowledge of patient care, therapeutic interventions, crisis management and program-specific clinical practices
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary treatment teams and familiarity with unit-based workflows and documentation is required
  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, human services, or related field is preferred

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills sufficient to effectively lead classroom-style and unit-based training sessions and facilitate discussions
  • Ability to engage audiences, explain clinical expectations, model best practices, and provide real-time feedback while demonstrating sound clinical leadership (51-80% of work time)
  • Problem-solving skills sufficient to develop and modify training materials to meet objectives and audience/trainees, to assess achievement of competencies and results of training, and to assist in the planning and evaluation of orientation and training programs
  • Requires frequent travel between Sheppard Pratt campuses

Schedule

Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4:30 pm

Pay

The pay range for this position is $42,307.20 minimum to $63,502.40 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
