About the role
The Staff Test Engineer will support IST Engineering in the design, development, and facilitation of high quality integration test procedures. This role will also support the enhancement of the entire solution development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for ensuring testing hardware and software against the system requirements and interface specification requirements
- Attending and participating in Solution level Requirements, individual System Requirements, Operational scenario, and Use Case document reviews
- Apply a System-of-Systems (SoS) mindset when developing test strategies and validating integrated solutions, ensuring interactions, dependencies, and behaviors across multiple systems and subsystems are adequately understood, tested, and verified
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop Integrated Solutions Test (IST) plans, test procedures, and automation tools used to validate customer solutions
- Develop and maintain IST test procedures and test plans based on new software features, enhancements, and defect resolutions
- Preserve test execution results and reporting for a regression cycle
- Configuration management of test procedures and test artifacts
- Test results reviews, defects logging for any identified failures during execution cycle
- Conduct Peer Reviews for ensuring quality and unified process of test procedures development across the team
- Contribute to estimation process for IST scope for various ongoing or upcoming projects
- This role may require occasional domestic and international travel (up to 10%)
- You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, Information Technology, or another related discipline
- 7 – 10 years experience in software testing principles, verification, and validation areas
- Experience in Test Automation technologies and scripting tools like python, JavaScript, C#, etc.
- A strong understanding of general network design principles including TCP/IP and UDP, Class D & EMP message structures and packet analysis (Preferred)
- Experience in working with Databases like MySQL, MongoDB, etc. (Preferred)
- Experience working with requirements management tools such as IBM CLM, Doors Next Gen etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to present and articulate ideas in a clear and concise manner to both customers and Wabtec leadership
- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment
- Systems design, segment testing and integration testing experience
- Broad railroad experience pertaining to locomotive technologies, operations and operating practices of the railroads, and broad skill areas related to hardware, software as well as communications and infrastructure (Preferred)
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering and testing tools, including generative AI, machine learning–based analytics, and intelligent automation. Demonstrated willingness to adopt emerging AI technologies and apply data-driven approaches to improve test automation, defect analysis, productivity, and engineering workflows (Preferred)
Pay & benefits
- The salary rate for this role is currently $79,100 – $112,800. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
