Staff Technical Product Marketing Manager

DigitalOcean · San Francisco, CA · Yesterday
RemoteRemoteMarketing$180k–$209k/yrFull-time

What You'll Do

  • Shape the function. Define the standards, the operating rhythm, and the prioritization for technical evangelism at DigitalOcean: which executive engagements get deep support, which campaigns we run, and what excellent looks like.
  • Deliver talks yourself, roughly half your time. Represent DigitalOcean on stage at conferences, meetups, and customer-facing events across the Bay Area and beyond, with the technical depth and presence to hold a sophisticated room.
  • Serve as the primary content partner to DigitalOcean's executives. Own the decks, narratives, and preparation for our most important leadership appearances at third-party events. You'll work directly with VPs and C-level leaders, translate their ideas into compelling technical stories, and manage the content from CFP to stage.
  • Create our deepest technical content on X. Partner with our Social team, which runs the channel and calendar, to produce the technical content behind product launches and industry moments — the videos, demos, threads, and posts that require someone who actually understands the technology.
  • Build and run brand-aligned technical campaigns. Hands-on labs, workshop materials, and in-person programming for enterprise AI-native accounts, starting with our agentic coding initiatives in the Bay Area.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years in technical marketing, product marketing, solutions engineering, developer relations, or technical content, including experience setting direction for a content function or body of work — not just executing within one
  • A track record as a speaker: talks you've delivered yourself at conferences or industry events, with the stage presence to represent a company in front of a technically demanding audience
  • Enough technical depth to be credible with AI engineers and infrastructure teams — and enough hands-on ability to back it up. You can build a working demo, record a walkthrough of a product you just picked up, explain inference economics, and speak concretely about how products compare to their competition
  • Fluency with AI-assisted creation. You use AI coding and content tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to move from idea to polished demo, video, or campaign asset fast — and you have the taste and judgment to ship work that never feels AI-generated
  • Experience partnering directly with executives on high-stakes content, and the judgment to serve someone else's voice as skillfully as your own
  • The ability to hold two modes at once: personal credibility when you're the speaker, and craft satisfaction in making someone else's story excellent when you're not
