About the role

This position is a part of the Structures Analysis team within the Hardware Engineering Organization at Northrop Grumman in Linthicum, MD. Work includes but is not limited to Airborne Multifunctional Sensors such as Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radars.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis on aerospace, shipboard, ground based, and space radar systems and structures.
  • Conduct loads development, stress analysis (static and fatigue), and vibration analysis of metallic and composite structures.
  • Perform classical structural analysis, as well as finite element analysis.
  • Lead and support analysts, including mentoring, estimating, planning, staffing recommendations, preparation of deliverable documentation, and statusing program customers.
  • Work closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads/Product Owners to meet aggressive schedules, develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems, and advise program and functional management on technical risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate in a team environment, mentor less experienced personnel, prioritize and organize tasks to support program milestones.
  • Utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear communication of results through reports and presentations.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience, master's degree with 10 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 8 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance (final clearance required to start).
  • 12 years of experience classical structural and finite element analysis including static, non-linear, modal, and vibration analysis.
  • 12 years of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • 12 years of experience developing FEMs at detail and assembly levels.
  • Awareness for cost reduction, weight management and structural efficiency.
  • 10 years of demonstrated experience giving presentations to internal and external customers.

Preferred qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience with airborne products such as multifunction sensor systems, and their environments and requirements.
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Software experience: NX.CAE (SimCenter 3D) / NX.Nastran, Ansys Mechanical, or MSC Patran.

Pay

Salary range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00. Base salary offers are determined by scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule
