About the role
The Structural Engineering Lead at American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is responsible for creating infrastructure designs for our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary resource extraction technologies. This role involves collaborating with internal engineering teams, technical programs, construction, and plant operations, as well as external experts, to ensure the effective design, construction, and operation of our facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end structural design for "first of kind" battery recycling and primary metal manufacturing facilities.
- Evaluate, determine, and design the most efficient structural systems (e.g., pre-engineered metal buildings, reinforced concrete, or heavy structural steel) based on factory requirements and local site conditions.
- Collaborate directly with Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical teams to integrate complex industrial systems into cohesive site plans via review of equipment submittals or generalized performance expectations.
- Manage the structural scope from initial feasibility studies and schematic design to construction administration and final close-out.
- Perform calculations around seismic, weather, and geotechnical factors to ensure safe and lasting infrastructure designs.
- Draft and develop standards to support reliable adherence to code and company standards.
- Support prototyping and piloting system designs by providing technical feedback and continuous improvement ideas through rapid fabrication and modification.
Requirements
- Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Background in Civil & Structural Engineering
- Nevada Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- 5+ years of engineering/design experience
- Thorough understanding of International Building Code (IBC) 2024 with ability to interpret ASCE / SEI and ACI codes
- Knowledge of Autodesk CAD programs (Civil3D, Revit)
- Ability to interpret design drawings such as equipment General Arrangements (GA)
- Positive collaboration in a fast-paced team environment and following company values
- Clear communication of technical information to executives, managers, and peers
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Nevada Licensed Structural Professional Engineer (SE)
- Thorough understanding of applicable codes
- Chemical or Mechanical industry background (High Volume Manufacturing, Gas & Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Mineral Processing, etc.)
- Ability to interpret design drawings such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
- Experience interfacing with Solidworks and / or Fabrication-level detailed designs
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Experience in technical bid evaluations, material takeoffs, and civil / structural project cost estimating
- Experience managing staff augmentation resources to complete a project

Pay
Expected Pay Range: $115k - $175k per year. Compensation for this position may vary based on a number of individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
