Staff Solutions Engineer - Commercial

About the role

As a Staff Solutions Engineer at Kong, you will help the world’s most innovative enterprises transition from monolithic systems to cloud-native ecosystems by supporting the Kong API/Connectivity Management platform.

Responsibilities

• Support field sales in demonstrating the value of the Kong platform to customers.
• Understand customer requirements and how the Kong platform can meet them; build trusted relationships throughout the sales lifecycle (initial reviews to production).
• Support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) throughout the evaluation process.
• Ensure 100% customer satisfaction across assigned accounts.
• Prioritize customer needs and coordinate with support, product, and engineering teams.
• Create technical documentation for DevOps, implementations, and services engagements.
• Support marketing efforts through blogs, webinars, trade shows, and field events.
• Perform additional tasks as required by manager.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineer and/or sales engineer management experience at a SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise Software company.
• Solid understanding of cloud computing trends and open source business models.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Confidence leading discussions with Product Managers, Engineers, and Executives.
• Enthusiasm for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and other cloud-native platforms.
• Experience with APIs, CI/CD automation frameworks, and AI/LLM technologies.
