About the team
The Marketplace Platform Reliability team develops and maintains engineering systems that support thousands of engineers in delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing software. The team manages platforms, operational intelligence, AI capabilities, and engineering standards to enhance productivity and system reliability. Focused on innovation and continuous improvement, members design robust, scalable solutions that support business growth while optimizing operational efficiency. Collaboration, strategic alignment, and effective program management drive technical excellence across the Marketplace organization, ensuring high-quality standards and sustained platform performance.
What you'll do
- Own the architecture, design, and delivery of a core WatchTower platform capability
- Build scalable, cloud-native software that improves reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence
- Partner with engineers and technical leaders across Marketplace to deliver platform capabilities used by thousands of engineers
- Drive engineering quality through sound architecture, code reviews, automation, observability, and modern software engineering practices
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams while remaining deeply hands-on in software development
What you'll bring
- Experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems or internal engineering platforms
- Strong software engineering skills with experience in cloud-native technologies, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern application architecture
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams
- Experience with developer platforms, operational tooling, AI, observability, or platform engineering
- Passion for building high-quality software that improves the engineering experience at scale
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering organizations
Minimum qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices
Pay
Annual salary range: $110,000.00 - $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may also include stock.
