We are building Walmart's next-generation Digital Accountant platform. Our mission is to transform accounting operations through AI, automation, and intelligent workflows that help finance teams close the books faster, reduce risk, and eliminate manual work. The platform offers multiple capabilities and conversational experiences into a unified accounting operating system. We solidify our engineering offerings by providing enterprise-grade guardrails, compliance, observability, approval workflows, auditability, and multi-tenant execution at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build highly scalable multi-tenant platform services powering automation lifecycle management, execution orchestration, governance, and observability.
  • Develop rich user experiences for accountants, controllers, and operations teams.
  • Lead design and implementation of workflow engines, approval processes, role-based access control, audit trails, and compliance features required for SOX and enterprise governance.
  • Build integrations with SAP, BlackLine, SharePoint, GCS, BigQuery, enterprise APIs, and internal platforms.
  • Drive platform reliability, developer experience, automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering excellence.
  • Partner with product, UX, finance SMEs, and platform teams to translate complex accounting workflows into intuitive digital experiences.
  • Mentor engineers, influence architecture decisions, establish technical standards, and lead critical platform initiatives across multiple teams.

Requirements

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, JavaScript, modern UI architecture and state management, design systems and component libraries, data visualization and dashboard development, responsive and accessible web applications.
  • Backend: Java and/or Python, Spring Boot or equivalent backend frameworks, REST APIs and event-driven architectures, workflow and orchestration systems, microservices architecture, distributed systems design.
  • Cloud & Platform Engineering: Kubernetes, containerization and platform engineering, GCP services (BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Services), Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and DevOps practices, observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering.
  • Data & AI: Data pipelines and ETL architectures, SQL and large-scale data processing, AI/LLM-powered applications, agent-based systems and workflow automation, analytics and anomaly detection platforms.
  • Enterprise Engineering: Security and access management, SOX, auditability, and governance controls, RBAC and approval workflows, enterprise integrations (SAP, BlackLine, SharePoint, APIs), test automation and quality engineering.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience building enterprise SaaS or platform products.
  • Experience with financial systems, accounting workflows, ERP integrations, or fintech products.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams.
  • Strong product mindset and ability to influence architecture and strategy.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.

Schedule

This role is based in Bentonville, AR (1202 Phyllis St, Bentonville, AR 72716, United States of America) and requires in-person collaboration to foster innovation, alignment, and development.
