Staff Software Engineer, Ad-Tech
About the role
We are looking for a staff software engineer to work on the systems and applications that power our Advertising and Fan Engagement products. These products leverage GeniusIQ to deliver real-time game insights, fan engagement, and unique content.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop systems and applications that power our automated, real-time Advertising and Fan Engagement products.
- Own and implement features end-to-end across the stack, taking responsibility for the system lifecycle from development, deployment, and support of critical products to customers.
- Lead technical discussions, drive architectural decisions, and identify opportunities to improve scalability, automation, and operational efficiency as we expand across new leagues and sports globally.
- Provide guidance and direction to product to help translate ideas into practical technical solutions.
- Design and maintain the foundational platform that powers our systems and supports development & iteration by engineering teams building on this platform.
- Design and improve testing and release strategies for complex systems - including backend services, web applications, data pipelines, messaging and streaming services, real-time model inference systems, and on-site hardware components.
- Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Provide mentorship and leadership in our local (in-office) and broader engineering community.
- Design and build mechanisms for enabling human or agent-in-the-loop workflows that validate, correct, and enhance outputs from the system.
Requirements
- Experience operating distributed systems.
- Experience building real-time systems and interactive web frontends.
- Experience designing APIs and integrating services.
- Experience managing relational databases (schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, performance tuning, migrations, and availability considerations).
- Experience using messaging systems (partitioning strategies, broker scaling, consumer design).

Benefits
The salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $240,000 - $255,000 USD. This role will also be eligible to participate in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.
