About the role

Roku is a fast-growing public company that pioneers TV streaming. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Ad Engineering Team. This role is crucial for building a scalable, high-performance, real-time advertising platform.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside a highly skilled engineering team to design, develop, and maintain large scale, highly performing, real-time applications
  • Own building features, driving directly with product and other engineering teams
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Be an evangelist for best practices across all functions – developers, QA, and infrastructure/ops
  • Be an evangelist for platform innovation and reuse
  • Deliver top-quality software in a timely fashion

Requirements

  • 4 - 8 years of experience building large scale and low latency distributed systems
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques, object-oriented programming, multi-threading, and real-time programming
  • Experience with distributed caching, SQL/NO SQL, and other databases
  • Experience with Big Data and cloud services such as AWS/GCP
  • Experience in advertising domain a big plus
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of accountability and ownership
  • Critical thinking and practical decision making
  • Can do, results-oriented mindset
  • Nonpolitical, collaborative, and team oriented
  • Desire to win in a highly competitive industry

Qualifications

  • Endless curiosity and a global mindset with locally relevant execution
  • Able to respond quickly to changing business needs

Skills

  • Java or C++ proficiency
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This role is full-time and based in our headquarters in Irvine, California.
