Staff RN - Endoscopy Part Time Days

Description

The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures, standards, and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.

Department Specific Competencies

• Coordinates entry of patients into the Endoscopy Center
• Communicates working knowledge, function, availability, and location of all endoscopy equipment
• Transports and moves patients using appropriate body mechanics and safety precautions
• Demonstrates knowledge and practice of safe patient handling devices
• Ensures consent is correctly obtained and documented prior to treatment/procedure
• Aids the physician with advanced endoscopic procedures and care of the GI patient
• Anticipates needs of physician during procedures
• Follows moderate sedation guidelines and monitoring per policy
• Provides patient comfort measures prior to, during, and after procedures
• Recovers patients post procedure according to policy and procedure
• Maintains appropriate inventory and par levels on all supplies, ordering and restocking endoscopy rooms, carts, and department
• Transports supplies and equipment as required
• Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to department advantage assisting others, clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc
• Attends in-services to update and maintain knowledge in the endoscopy field
• Monitors and reports to the Unit Lead any patient or family complaints, intervening before issues arise, and implements service recovery strategies as needed
• Uses basic radiology and fluoroscopy practices and wear practtine equipment correctly
• Completes required documentation in EMR and departmental log books in a timely manner
• Institutes special precautions with patient at risk for injury from falling
• Selects, maintains, and utilizes all equipment and accessories correctly
• Assumes on-call status and call back as assigned, responding within 30 minutes of receiving call
