About the role
Assumes responsibility for providing professional nursing care to a designated patient population. Delivers patient care in accordance with medical center policies and procedures, as well as accepted standards of nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and conducting physical assessments.
- Administers prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures, and accurately documents all patient care provided.
- Assists physicians and other medical staff with examinations, treatments, diagnostic tests, and specialized procedures.
- Participates in unit operations by answering telephones, communicating via EMS radio, maintaining the patient care environment, and performing other assigned duties.
- Provides thorough shift reports to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Demonstrates competency in required clinical skills as validated by the departmental skills checklist.
- Successfully passes a written pharmacology examination.
- Performs the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and assisting with patient care activities.
- Promotes positive working relationships and effective communication within the department and throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience preferred.
- Current Mississippi Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are preferred at the time of hire but must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
- To be eligible for the PRN pay rate, all required certifications must be current and maintained in good standing.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Maintains the physical and emotional health necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
- Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to rotate shifts and/or assigned duty areas as needed.
Background check and drug screen required.
