About the role
We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer to join us at a critical juncture as we evolve how our users interact with Affirm through agentic solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive design AI and agentic initiatives for Affirm’s Consumer experience, delivering high-impact, customer-centric solutions that align with business objectives.
- Design intuitive, conversational, and agentic patterns that feel proactive and helpful, moving beyond reactive commerce to anticipation.
- Define the design language for Affirm’s future AI-driven interactions, prioritizing trust, clarity, and predictable outcomes for our users.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, data science, marketing, and research to drive innovation and deliver seamless, intuitive experiences.
- Embrace agility—iterating quickly, adapting to change, and making data-driven decisions while maintaining a strong vision for the future.
- Balance near-term execution with long-term strategic thinking, ensuring scalability and coherence across the Affirm ecosystem.
- Push the envelope—challenge the status quo, think outside the box, and take calculated risks to drive meaningful innovation in financial products.
- Bring exceptional visual and interaction design skills to craft delightful, polished experiences that build trust and confidence.
- Champion a test-and-learn mindset, leveraging experimentation, research, and analytics to continuously refine and optimize user experiences.
Requirements
- AI Product Design & Strategic Vision AI/Agentic Design Experience: Proven track record of designing AI-driven, agentic, or conversational user interfaces that deliver real user value.
- Advanced Prototyping: Proficiency in prototyping non-linear, multi-modal user flows to test and validate complex AI interactions.
- Human-Centered AI Principles: Strong understanding of HCAI principles, focusing on user trust, transparency, system feedback, and explainability.
- High-Stakes Design: Ability to navigate and design for complex, high-stakes consumer financial products where trust is paramount.
- Leadership & Strategy Experience at Scale: 8+ years of product design experience with significant time dedicated to problem solving complex experiences and shipping new products.
- Proactive & Adaptable: You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and take initiative to drive progress.
- Strong Product Sense: You deeply understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints—and can balance them effectively in your design decisions.
- Data-Informed & Risk-Taking: You use data to guide your thinking but aren’t afraid to challenge assumptions and explore bold ideas.
- Collaborative & Humble: You value diverse perspectives, work well with cross-functional partners, and are open to feedback to make the best decisions for our users.
- Exceptional Craft & Visual Skills: You have a keen eye for detail, design systems, and interaction patterns that elevate user experiences.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience: 8+ years of product design experience.
- Skills: Proven track record of designing AI-driven, agentic, or conversational user interfaces; proficiency in prototyping non-linear, multi-modal user flows; strong understanding of HCAI principles; ability to navigate and design for complex, high-stakes consumer financial products where trust is paramount; strong product sense; data-informed and risk-taking approach; collaborative and humble mindset; exceptional craft and visual skills; passion for innovation.
Benefits
- Base pay range: $173,000 - $233,000 per year (USA base pay range (all other U.S. states)).
- Equity grade: 12.
