EngineeringFull-time

Graphcore is a globally recognized leader in Artificial Intelligence computing systems, designing advanced semiconductors and data-center hardware that provide specialized processing power for AI innovation with industry-leading efficiency.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design, test, and develop the power-delivery components from grid to chip. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, firmware developers, and data-center operations teams to ensure our infrastructure meets customer requirements for performance, reliability, and scalability. This hybrid-remote role is based in Milpitas, CA and includes significant in-laboratory work.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and specification of components and systems in the grid-to-chip power chain.
  • Build out the test environment and perform engineering validation of the entire power chain.
  • Design test hardware—fixtures, loads, and simulators—to evaluate performance under varied loading conditions, including basic function, robustness, reliability, high-power cycling, high-bandwidth power, and energy-storage tests.
  • Design and prototype custom power-conversion hardware to support Graphcore’s power architecture.
  • Support the transition of validated designs into manufacturing and production.
  • Ensure IT power robustness against grid disturbances and compatibility with grid requirements (“good grid citizen”).
  • Guide power-equipment manufacturers, ODMs, and engineering teams on required testing and validation procedures for hardware and firmware.
  • Debug and resolve sophisticated power hardware and firmware issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics.
  • Demonstrated experience in power-system architecture, design, and development.
  • Experience testing high-voltage and high-power systems.
  • Proficiency in power hardware and firmware development and debugging.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Familiarity with AI and data-center infrastructure technologies.

Benefits

Graphcore offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
