Staff Pipeline Engineer (Southeast Region)

About the role

The Staff Pipeline Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of pipeline projects, including transmission and distribution pipelines. The role involves collaborating with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting pipeline plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipeline design from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for various projects, including transmission and distribution pipelines.
• Design pipeline components to meet project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
• Apply strong knowledge of pipeline engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
• Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers; compile studies and reports, and write specifications.
• Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable.
• Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections using multiple CAD-related software.
• Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for pipeline projects.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience (consulting preferred).
• Or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience (consulting preferred).
• Or Master's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 2 years of pipeline engineering experience (consulting preferred).
• Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of standard pipeline engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; critical thinking skills.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, ATF).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
