Our SE Region is seeking experienced Pipeline Engineers to work in our Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, or Chattanooga, TN offices and be responsible for oversight of pipeline engineering and consulting services for clients across the US.
About the role
This position involves leading others in creating pipeline design deliverables for projects ranging from small utility distribution upgrades to large transmission projects. It offers opportunities to influence the growth and success of the Pipelines group and advance into leadership roles.
Responsibilities
- Lead in the execution of engineering activities, including:
- Pipeline design (plans, profiles, details, and associated bill of materials)
- Coordination for survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, and land acquisition
- Calculations for studies and reports
- Material and equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
- Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development, including:
- Conceptual designs and execution plans
- Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (Pipeline Facilities, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, etc.)
- Develop and improve processes, tools, and/or factory acceptance testing
- Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
- Provide short-term field support during construction
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 7 years of pipeline engineering experience or
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 7 years of pipeline engineering experience or
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 6 years of pipeline engineering experience
- EPC project experience preferred
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, ATF)
- Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8; familiarity with 49 CFR Part 195 and ASME B31.4 is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
- Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work methodically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
- Ability to travel (15% of the time)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
