STAFF NURSE TEMP Central Staffing Resources (Mott Children's Hospital, Pediatric Cardiology)

About the Role

This is a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR), servicing Pediatric CPU and Cardiology units. The role involves floating to like units where competent and qualified, particularly during times of decreased patient cases.

Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is available. Shifts are 8 hours in length: night shift (23:00-7:30), day shift (7:00-15:00), and evening shift (15:00-23:00). Hours and shifts are based on unit needs, with 4, 8, and 12-hour blocks available.

Commitment is 32 hours per 4-week scheduling block. Inability to work for three consecutive months leads to automatic termination from employment. There is no guarantee of work at any time, and shifts may be cancelled.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with congenital heart disease.
• Float to assigned units within the cluster specialty as needed.
• Attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required UM mandatories and competencies (e.g., BCLS every 2 years, Cardiac Arrest, and other applicable certifications).
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written), organization, commitment to teamwork, and integrity.
• Participate in a streamlined onboarding/orientation program, with progression dependent on clinical competency, staffing needs, and hours worked.

Requirements

• Current licensure to practice nursing in Michigan.
• Two (2) years of nursing experience with the clinical care of patients with congenital heart disease.
• Resume required for consideration (both internal and external applicants).

Qualifications

Required:

• Current Michigan RN licensure.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in the clinical care of patients with congenital heart disease.

Desired:

• Critical care nursing experience.

Pay

• Base rate: $55.00/hour.
• Evening shift differential: $5.00/hour (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM) and $4.00/hour (7:00 PM – 11:00 PM).
• Night shift differential: $3.00/hour.
• Weekend differential: $5.00/hour.

Schedule

• 32 hours per 4-week scheduling block.
• Day, evening, and night shifts available.
• 4, 8, and 12-hour shifts available.
• Temporary Nurses in CSR Clusters are not required to work weekends or holidays.
