About the role
This brand new, state-of-the-art 24-bed unit is part of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and houses the only blood and marrow transplant unit in Iowa. The unit is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, rich with opportunities for both the new graduate nurse and the experienced nurse looking for new challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized, comprehensive care to adult patients with leukemia and those undergoing transplant for multiple myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, and other types of hematologic disorders.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team that is skilled in oncology care.
- Assist patients in coping with the physiological and psychological components of their illness.
- Achieve optimum outcomes through competence, character, and communication.
Requirements
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
- Current ACLS certification is desired.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
- General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel.
Skills
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures is desirable.

Pay
- Salary: $61,782 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.*
Schedule
- 20 - 36 hours per week. Day/Night rotating shifts, will include a weekend rotation and an every other holiday rotation.

Pay Differentials
- Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.
- Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours.
- Inpatient differentials of up to $10,000 per year based on percent time
