Staff Nurse/Nursery

About the role

The Nursery RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Essential Functions

• Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
• Carries out physician orders.
• Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
• Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Instructs and educates patients and families.
• Affirms and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
• Orients and mentors new staff members.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing; Associates in Nursing; Bachelors preferred;
• Current IL State RN licensure and CPR Certification;
• Team and customer service skills;
• Must have a minimum of two years of experience as an Nursery RN in a hospital environment is highly desired;
• Computer skills - windows and database systems;
• Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills;
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, EKG monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation, airway and ventilator management as required per department;
• Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider;
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
