Staff Nurse - Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit (6JC) - 50%-90%
Characteristic Duties
The Staff Nurses on the Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit (6 JCP) are responsible for applying nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses to health and illness. They collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans. These nurses also coordinate the continuum of care across various settings, document interventions, and report patient responses. They integrate patient preferences and expectations into the care plan and ensure safe environments for all patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- General computer skills are required.
Experience

Certifications
- A current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
Desirable Qualifications
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
- If a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
- Previous RN inpatient experience, or recent internship on an inpatient unit is desirable.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures is desirable.
Location and Salary
The position is located in Iowa City, Iowa and offers a salary range of $60,000 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate with experience. The position requires 50%-90% of time (20-36 hours per week) and varying flexible shifts, every third weekend, and every other holiday.
