About the role

Join our Comprehensive Neuroscience Center, 6 West, a 24-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients with ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, status epilepticus, encephalitis, traumatic brain injury (TBI), intracranial hemorrhage, stroke, and minor neurological disorders. The unit has received multiple Daisy Award nominations and a Beacon Award, and is recognized for the Gold Standard of Care for Stroke Patients.

All Critical Care units at MetroHealth offer enhanced technology to assist with nursing care, including patient lifts, hands-free communication, virtual whiteboards, and continuous telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed neurological assessments
  • Monitor intracranial pressure (ICP)
  • Titrate medications
  • Manage surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
  • Provide neurological patient care, including NIHSS Certification for Stroke care
  • Monitor telemetry and seizure disorders
  • Utilize time management, critical thinking, and delegation skills

Personnel you will work with: LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Dietary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation)
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN
  • Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
