Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuroscience Intermediate Unit (NSIU)

About the Role

Responsible for providing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and other standards established by professional groups and regulating bodies. Nursing care is delivered following ECU Health and entity-specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards of care.

Responsibilities include the provision and coordination of nursing care, collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes, and development of a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team members. The role involves identifying interventions to attain expected outcomes, implementing the plan of care, evaluating patient progress, and documenting the process. Care is tailored to the age-specific and unique needs of the patient and family.

Promotes and evaluates the effective functioning of the healthcare team and collaborates with team members to meet patient and family needs throughout the episode of care. Delegates tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collect and analyze patient assessment data to identify expected outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Document the care process and patient progress toward outcomes.
• Address age-specific and unique patient/family needs.
• Promote effective teamwork and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Delegate tasks and activities as permitted by the NC Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

• Current North Carolina Registered Nurse license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

Schedule

Position: 0.9 FTE

Orientation

• 14–16 weeks for new graduate RNs.
• 6–10 weeks for experienced RNs.
