Staff Nurse Medical Surgical

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs based on data collected through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data.
• Provide age-specific nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care and standards of practice.
• Foster an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
• Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
• Utilize standard work in relation to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators.
• Contribute to department performance through precepting and mentoring novice employees.
• Support department growth and performance through hospital-system initiatives that cultivate nursing-involved Evidence Based Practices.
• Demonstrate continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in educational offerings.
• Float to assist in other like units as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Advanced resuscitative certification appropriate to population if serving in a charge nurse role.
• Basic Life Support Registered Nurse certification.
