About the role

Accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery and evaluation of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in an acute patient setting. Delivers holistic and individualized care to all patients in an assigned area. Develops, implements, and coordinates a plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications. Adheres to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Provide direct patient care and patient/family education.
• Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized care plans incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with diverse audiences, including non-medical individuals.
• Prioritize patient care and assignments within standardized policies and procedures.
• Ensure patient privacy and protect protected health information (PHI).
• Identify and solve routine or complex problems using existing procedures and critical thinking.
• Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or RN license evidencing completion of an RN program.
• Active RN-Registered Nurse license for the state where care is provided.
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
• ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (department required).
• PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (department required).
• NIHSS-National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification (department required).
• 2 years of recent relevant experience.
• Preferred experience as typically acquired in the Emergency Department (ED).

Skills & Knowledge

• General knowledge and competence in nursing theories, concepts, and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
• Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precautions, patient care best practices, and privacy regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Time management and organizational skills to prioritize patient care and assignments.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to engage effectively in stressful situations with patients, families, and team members.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address routine or complex issues.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to meet objectives and deadlines.

Schedule

• Shift: Nights
• Schedule: Part Time (32 hours per week)
• Shift Hours: 8
• Days of the Week: Variable
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Pay

Pay Range: $84.50 to $114.34 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location, candidate experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
