About the role

Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/support person in order to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the units as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed, including the age of the patient served.
  • Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Works effectively as part of a department/unit team intradepartmental to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Functions as a role model and provides support and development for current and new staff.
  • Directs other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and CARES values of Fisher-Titus.
  • Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for safety, confidentiality, quality assurance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates with compassion using active listening skills, the AIDET communication tool, key words at key times, and HEART service recovery techniques.
  • Demonstrates service etiquette by smiling and greeting patients using the 10/5 rule, maintaining a calm and positive attitude, ensuring patient privacy, and adjusting approach to respect diversity.
  • Commits to safety by following established guidelines, recognizing risks, and reporting concerns.
  • Delivers high-quality care through efficient, effective, and purposeful work.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license in the state of Ohio.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • PALS required.
  • TCAR preferred.
