About the Role
Provides nursing care and services to patients and families. Delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistive personnel according to legal and regulatory guidelines, organizational policies, and reasonable judgment. Acts as primary nurse, total patient caregiver, resource nurse, preceptor, and takes charge duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Practices professional nursing and delegates tasks to nursing assistive personnel and LPNs.
- Utilizes the nursing process to deliver care and performs tasks requiring nursing knowledge, judgment, and skills.
- Administers medications and teaches LPNs and nursing assistive personnel special tasks of nursing care.
- Verifies staff competency to perform special tasks and ensures quality of care when delegating tasks.
- Functions as primary nurse, total patient caregiver, resource nurse, and preceptor.
- Takes charge duties as assigned and may be reassigned to other cost centers or work locations to meet patient care needs.
- Incorporates Maui Health Vision, Model, and Values into nursing practice.
- Performs other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers or Basic Life Support certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- One (1) year experience in a specialty area or completion of a formal course in the specialty within a designated period after hire. Specialty areas include: Operating Room, Emergency Department, Telemetry, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Cardiology, Ambulatory Treatment, Diagnostic Imaging, and Oncology.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in adaptability, change management, decision-making, customer service, interpersonal relations, oral and written communication, prioritization, problem-solving, quality management, results orientation, system thinking, teamwork, and time management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with electronic medical records.
- Coursework in basic EKG.
Schedule
- Full-time, 36 hours per week.
- Night shift: 07:00 PM to 07:30 AM.
- Workdays: Sunday through Saturday.
Pay
$50.66 - $72.44 per hour. Kaiser Permanente offers a market-competitive total rewards package, with pay determined by labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications.
Location
Lanai Community Hospital, Lanai City, Hawaii. Worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
