About the role
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments within the Life Sciences industry (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory).
Responsibilities
- Create mechanical designs for projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
- Adapt mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
- Design mechanical systems in compliance with code and regulatory requirements.
- Modify and review production drawings for various types of projects.
- Design mechanical components based on project needs and requirements.
- Update drawings provided by senior engineers to ensure corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
