Staff Mechanical Engineer - Consumer & Life Solutions (Kansas City/Raleigh)

About the role

The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments within the Life Sciences industry (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory).

Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical designs for projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Design mechanical systems in compliance with code and regulatory requirements.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various types of projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements as outlined by project managers.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to ensure corrections are made using multiple CAD-related software.
  • Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
