Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Life Sciences

About the role

We're seeking exceptionally talented Forward Deployed Engineers to join our dynamic team. These roles are available at the Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Lead Engineer levels. FDEs will embed directly with our internal biotech and science teams as well as external customers, solving their problems through rapid development of bespoke solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, wrap, and adapt domain-specific tools for molecular modeling, data analysis, process optimization, and more.
• Deploy custom, agentic scientific workflows that integrate with industrial instruments and data systems.
• Create real-time data pipelines transforming messy scientific data into actionable insights.
• Build intuitive interfaces making complex AI/ML capabilities accessible to scientists.
• Architect scalable solutions from proof-of-concept to enterprise-wide deployment.

Requirements

• Background in biology, molecular science, or related scientific field.
• Outstanding communication skills—interacting with executives and the manufacturing line.
• Experience with data engineering, ETL pipelines, and handling complex/messy datasets.
• Strong full-stack development skills, capable of working across backend, frontend, and data layers.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and comfort with ambiguous requirements.
• Proven knack for product discovery and ability to translate customer needs back to the platform.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for frequent and extended deployments.

Qualifications

• Previous customer-facing or consulting experience is a plus.
• Depth in controls engineering and machine learning is beneficial.
• Experience with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and RDKit.
• Familiarity with ML/AI implementation and deployment.
• Familiarity with modern web technologies like TypeScript and React.

Benefits

Compensation includes a competitive base salary range of $192,000 USD - $256,000 USD, with the final offer reflecting your unique background, expertise, and impact. We also offer bonus potential and generous early equity.
