About the role

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead Electrical design for water/wastewater projects
  • Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff in the regional design centers that are supporting project detailed design
  • Serve as technical expert in electrical power distribution and miscellaneous plant electrical systems for client consultations
  • Support business development related to enhanced Electrical services
  • Build business relationships with clients to understand needs and drivers

Additional project opportunities include:

  • Studies – Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis
  • Construction inspection and resolution of electrical construction issues
  • Coordination with local electrical utilities on project technical needs
  • Review of supplier submittals
  • Act as a liaison between the local design team, client and remote design teams for Instrumentation and Control design
  • Startup and testing of major electrical equipment

The ideal candidate is located in the Kansas City metro; however we may consider candidates located near any of our regional offices within the Midwest market. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

By joining this team, you will help provide infrastructure for community benefit through regulated utilities and government agencies. This team partners with customers to align their people, processes, technologies, and data analytics in the face of industry transformation. We help customers leverage industry-leading solutions and expertise to modernize water infrastructure, optimize asset use, meet performance goals, reduce costs, and mitigate risk. This team is ranked in the top 10 by ENR for Water Design Firms in Water Supply and Sewer Waste and other water-related rankings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Electrical design for water/wastewater projects
  • Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff
  • Serve as technical expert in electrical power distribution and miscellaneous plant electrical systems for client consultations
  • Support business development related to enhanced Electrical services
  • Build business relationships with clients to understand needs and drivers
  • Conduct studies such as Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis
  • Perform construction inspection and resolve electrical construction issues
  • Coordinate with local electrical utilities on project technical needs
  • Review supplier submittals
  • Act as a liaison between the local design team, client, and remote design teams for Instrumentation and Control design
  • Oversee startup and testing of major electrical equipment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Professional Engineer’s license in KS, MO, or another US jurisdiction (preferred)
  • 5-8 years in electrical design, planning, and construction services (preferred)
  • Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience (preferred)
  • Experience in medium and low voltage power distribution equipment, including variable frequency drives and standby diesel generators
  • Understanding of PLC hardware and software setup, network configuration, HMI, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and fiber optic cabling
  • Experience in a client-facing/business development role
  • Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software (a plus)
