EngineeringFull-time

About the role

The Staff Electrical Engineer is a senior technical contributor within SlingWorks, one of Elbit America’s most advanced engineering teams. They develop next-generation targeting and mission-system technologies, leading complex board-level electrical designs, contributing to system architecture decisions, and driving subsystem-level electrical integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex electrical and board-level hardware, including schematic capture, component selection, and interface definition
  • Contribute to electrical architecture decisions across digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power domains
  • Integrate processors, sensors, high-speed digital interfaces, and supporting electronics at the subsystem level
  • Support and help define FPGA electrical integration strategies (no RTL required)
  • Direct PCB layout activities to ensure signal integrity, EMC/EMI robustness, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Lead board bring-up, electrical debug, validation, and root-cause analysis in lab environments
  • Develop and implement test plans, validation strategies, and debug methodologies for program hardware
  • Drive resolution of electrical issues across prototype and low-rate production builds
  • Lead electrical design for SWaP-constrained systems, including power distribution, power integrity, efficiency, and thermal considerations
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and embedded software teams to ensure effective system-level integration
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical trade studies, and design reviews
  • Support DFM/DFT approaches and help transition designs from prototype to manufacturing
  • Perform and interpret electrical analysis, modeling, and simulation to reduce technical risk
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Provide technical guidance and constructive design reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Typically 12+ years of experience in electronic design, hardware development, and system integration
  • Proven ability to lead major design efforts and work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Strong experience with schematic capture tools (such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition) and electrical analysis/simulation tools (such as LTSPICE)
  • Familiarity with PLM or ERP tools
  • Experience working in high-reliability, fast-paced environments supporting mission-critical systems
  • Required training: ESD and safety training (can be completed within the first year)
  • Experience with aerospace/defense, MIL-STD requirements, or DO-254 practices is a plus

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • MS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills
  • Expertise in schematic capture and electrical analysis tools
  • Experience in high-reliability, fast-paced environments
