About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs throughout the facility. This role ensures the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as directed by the DNS.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate educational and on-the-job training programs.
- Incorporate commercially produced instructional materials and training aids into existing in-service programs as necessary.
- Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs for the facility.
- Develop, evaluate, and control the quality of in-service educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Secure, develop, and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, and other documentation pertinent to in-service educational programs.
Requirements
- Current, unencumbered State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Leadership and supervisory ability, with a willingness to work harmoniously with other department personnel.
- Willingness to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing training practices.
- Ability to plan and develop new programs.
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents and staff.
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
