Staff Data Analyst, Block Compliance
About the role
The Staff Data Analyst will join the Block Compliance Analytics team, which aims to place data at the heart of the Compliance organization. This role involves developing strategies and leading key workstreams to deliver actionable analytics to Block's business leaders and regulators.
Responsibilities
- Develop data strategy for regulatory engagements, including ETL development, source data validation, and analysis.
- Connect regulatory expectations, commitments, and Compliance/Product roadmaps to influence strategy.
- Use raw data to educate internal and external partners on the impact of new regulation, policies, or environmental changes to the Compliance program and Block platforms.
- Collaborate with partners from legal to engineering to inform strategic builds of essential compliance program elements.
- Lead multiple high-impact workstreams through seamless navigation of levels of abstraction in written and verbal communications.
Requirements
- 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of Compliance/AML experience.
- Expert level abilities in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools (Tableau, Looker).
- Proven track record solving large and complex problems without clear answers, using deep and broad technical expertise.
- Vision to define problems and manage projects in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
- Leverage subject matter expertise to educate, coach, and influence in and out of the organization.
- Even better (but not required): CAMS or other AML certification, experience in FinTech or consulting, or with financial crimes compliance systems, technologies, and processes.

Pay
Pay may vary depending on location. For U.S. locations, pay ranges are as follows:
- Zone A: $171,800—$257,600 USD
- Zone B: $159,800—$239,600 USD
- Zone C: $151,200—$226,800 USD
- Zone D: $142,600—$213,800 USD
