About the role

Assured is on a mission to modernize insurance. Claims processing—determining whether to pay a claim—is the foundation of the industry but remains highly manual, involving phone calls, faxes, and gut instinct, costing tens of billions annually. We provide large insurers with software solutions to thrive in a modern, technology-driven world, from self-service claim-filing software to backend fraud detection. As a Staff Data Analyst, you'll partner with teams across the organization to transform data into meaningful insights that drive smarter decisions, helping leaders understand business performance, identify opportunities, and measure the impact of strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze experiments, pilots, and performance evaluations to determine which initiatives create the greatest impact and support confident decision-making.
  • Build dashboards and reporting to provide leaders with visibility into operational performance, customer outcomes, and organizational health.
  • Analyze data across multiple sources to identify patterns, emerging opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Use segmentation, cohort analysis, and behavioral data to understand customers, users, or operational processes and identify opportunities to improve results.
  • Partner with stakeholders across departments to answer high-impact business questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and provide analytical recommendations.
  • Improve data quality, instrumentation, and reporting by identifying gaps in existing data collection and helping teams capture necessary information.
  • Build confidence in business decisions by designing analyses and communicating insights that clarify what is working—and what isn’t.
  • Turn data into strategic direction by uncovering trends, identifying opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Create visibility into organizational performance through dashboards, reporting, and metrics that stakeholders rely on daily.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to frame business problems, evaluate options, and ensure decisions are data-supported.
  • Develop meaningful metrics and reporting frameworks to enable teams to consistently measure success and track progress over time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, customer experiences, and operational efficiency through thoughtful analysis.
  • Bring clarity to complex problems by asking the right questions, exploring data, and delivering insights that move the business forward.

Qualifications

  • Use data to drive decisions, with a track record of solving complex business problems through analysis and influencing decisions with data.
  • Strong analytical fundamentals; SQL is a core part of your toolkit, and you're comfortable working with large datasets to uncover insights.
  • Think beyond reporting—you investigate root causes, identify opportunities, and recommend actions, not just build dashboards.
  • Communicate with clarity, explaining analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences to help stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • Enjoy solving ambiguous problems; you're comfortable starting with a business question and determining what data or analyses are needed to answer it.
  • Adapt quickly to new tools and technologies, focusing on solving problems rather than relying on a specific technology stack.
  • Experience with modern analytics tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks is a plus, but not required.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: salary and equity packages for all employees.
  • Platinum medical, dental, and vision healthcare plan.
  • Free life insurance, including long-term and short-term disability.
  • Unlimited PTO: uncapped vacation days and paid holidays.
  • Family leave: maternity and paternity leave.
  • 401(k) contribution: Assured contributes 3% of your income, even if you don’t contribute.
  • WFH benefits: lunch on us 2x/week, monthly phone stipend, and other home office perks.
  • Health FSAs and HSAs: pre-tax accounts for out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  • Team events and offsites: regular gatherings despite being a remote team.

Pay

Compensation range: $175,000 – $195,000.
