About the Role

Tufts University Counseling and Mental Health Service (CMHS) is a division of Tufts Department of Health and Wellness, which also includes Tufts Health Service. The Department contributes to the educational mission of the university through prevention, intervention, and consultation. Serving a diverse student body of approximately 8,600 undergraduate and graduate students on two campuses, CMHS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment that is inclusive and culturally informed. We are a multicultural team with an ongoing focus on equity and inclusion, bringing energy and a collaborative approach to brief counseling, psychiatric services, training, outreach, and liaison work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the full range of mental health services to Tufts University students, including:
    • Assessment, individual, couples, and group counseling
    • Crisis intervention
    • Liaison/outreach activities and community consultation
  • Participate in 24-hour emergency on-call rotations, involving occasional telephone and/or face-to-face after-hours evaluations
  • Engage in meetings, trainings, committees, and other team-based activities
  • Deliver culturally relevant and effective therapeutic services to Latinx/Afro-Latinx/Latine, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other diverse student populations, including those with intersecting identities and varied immigration histories
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Psychology, LICSW, current LICSW in Massachusetts, or licensed/license-eligible Massachusetts Psychologist
  • Demonstrated expertise working with Latinx/Latine students and ability to serve the full range of the Tufts student community
  • Clinical experience with brief therapy and crisis intervention for college student/young adult populations
  • Strong generalist experience addressing common college mental health issues, including stress, anxiety, eating and body image concerns, trauma, substance abuse, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidality, depression, and mood disorders
  • Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and other campus activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) candidates
  • Experience working within electronic medical records systems

Pay

Salary range: $79,600.00 – $119,500.00. New hires can generally expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity.
