About Counseling And Psychological Services (CAPS)

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is a multidisciplinary, student-centered team of mental-health professionals. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment that supports student success and community well-being.

About the role

Under general supervision, this clinical staff member will provide direct counseling services, develop outreach programs, and build a supportive community for the academic success and well-being of University of Cincinnati students.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct counseling services to university students, including intake, evaluation, individual/group counseling, and emergency/crisis management.
• Consult with the university community regarding student mental-health needs.
• Develop and deliver outreach, programs, events, and initiatives for students, faculty, and staff in collaboration with administration.
• Serve as liaison between the counseling center, the university community, and external agencies.
• Participate in training programs within the counseling center.
• Develop and coordinate internal programs and collect data for program evaluation.
• Stay current with developments in student mental health, cultural competency, and equitable access to services.
• Represent the department on university committees.
• Provide direct or indirect supervision to staff or trainees as needed.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Doctorate Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD).
• Must be independently licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or clinical counselor in the State of Ohio, with the ability to supervise in your discipline. License must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
• Three (3) years of clinical experience.
• Experience working in a college or university counseling center or other academic environment is preferred.
