Staff Counselor

About the role

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Staff Counselor within the Counseling Center Department. This position reports to the Counseling Center Manager, providing counseling services to individual adults, adolescents, and children, as well as couple and family therapy and group therapy.

The role includes conducting psychiatric intakes for new clients, arriving at accurate diagnoses, and keeping psychiatric diagnoses updated. Additionally, the Staff Counselor provides other services appropriate to their training and licensure, aligned with the goals of the Counseling Center and the needs of the community.

This position operates within a collegial and mutually supportive team environment, contributing unique knowledge, skills, and abilities to enrich the Center’s diversity and depth while maintaining the quality of service the community expects.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, couple, family, and group therapy to adults, adolescents, and children.
• Conduct psychiatric intakes for new clients and establish accurate diagnoses.
• Maintain and update psychiatric diagnoses as needed.
• Deliver services aligned with the counselor’s training, licensure, and the Counseling Center’s goals.
• Collaborate as a team member in a supportive and collegial environment.
• Contribute to the diversity and depth of the Counseling Center’s services.
