Staff Backend Engineer - Adaptive Telemetry, Databases | Canada | Remote

This role will advance people and talent initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and employee experience. You will collaborate with business leaders, HR partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to align workforce priorities with business objectives. The position offers the opportunity to influence culture, talent strategy, and scalable people operations within a Technical Services environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap for architectural improvements
• Lead end-to-end delivery of large cross-functional projects
• Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical systems
• Define SLOs/SLIs and handle incident response
• Improve observability, automation, and operational readiness
• Align stakeholders and remove blockers for project delivery
• Mentor and grow engineering talent within the team

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in large distributed systems delivery
• Strong systems-design instincts
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures and operational practices
• Reliability and performance ownership expertise
• Excellent coding skills with familiarity in Go or similar languages
• Comfortable with AI-assisted development
• Experience with messaging and telemetry systems

Pay

Compensation: $186,368 – $223,642 annually
